When you turn the gas off it may take awhile for the gas to get back to the fridge. I would first turn on a gas stove and light it, that lets you purge some of the air and lets you know the gas is working. Then go back and start the fridge. Does your fridge have a indicator light to tell you it is on gas? If it does and the light does not come on try it again for a few cycles to get the air out of the lines
