Can you cite some incidences where the LP fridge blew up a gas station?

You are right that statistics about gas station blew due to RV refrigerator are not available, but that does not mean it did not happen.
Than even if it did not happen, do you want to take your chances to be one in a million statistic?
Than the net is full of pictures of motorhomes burned down to the ground due the open propane valve during flat, or accident.
You might not bother to care about your safety, but forbidding sparks and open flame around the pumps is fueling stations rule.
