Safety cut off solenoid gets the 12 volts that energizes it from the PROPANE/EXPLOSIVE GAS detector. if you have the emergency shut off (You do) then your Detector should have an ON/OFF switch.
OFF, is OFF. since it's a hard switch and should De-energize the solenoid.
The fact he called it a "Relay" instead of a "Solenoid" indicates he is not compentent.
