Our RV has only one pilot light - the oven. We never leave that pilot light lit after each use of the oven, so there is never an open flame there when we're gassing up or traveling.
The water heater, and refrigerator all use electronic ignition to light up their flames, so they won't light up with no 12 volts present while we're gassing up. We never leave the water heater ON unless we need it within a few minutes or have just used it, so it's burner would never present an open flame while we're gassing up.
However, now I'm wondering: If the refrigerator's flame just happens be burning during an ON cycle when we pull into a gas station ... will it remain burning to complete the cycle even after I turn OFF the 12 volt switch before gassing up?
If the answer is yes, that could be an issue because the refrigerator's lower airflow intake vent is close to the motorhome's gasoline filling port. I'll have to make a test to see if the refrigerator has a 12 volt powered solenoid that turns OFF it's propane flow it if there isn't any 12 volts available in the coach. I sure hope that Winnebago set it up that way ... as just conveniently turning OFF the coach's 12 volt switch would then make open propane flames a non-issue, other than us manually lighting a cooktop burner while gassing up (not likely).
