We have a driver's side door on our Georgetown. I only use it when I can't use the house door, specifically when it's in the storage spot alongside the garage at home, and that's when I have a step ladder to go up and down.
I used it once at a campground. I missed the "stirrup" step and was about to fall head-first onto the concrete. I managed to pull myself back up onto the door sill and, as a result, ended up in hospital for lumbar spine surgery.
I'm working on a house roof/gutter redesign so I can open the RV's house door in its storage spot. Once that's done, I won't ever use the driver's door again - just too dangerous for me.
