Not accurate. One may pump ones own diesel - even if there is gasoline in the island. Unfortunately, there is a lot of misunderstanding among attendants. My daily driver is a diesel SUV - at some stations the attendants are peeved when I ask them to fill the tank. At others, they'll argue that the law doesn't permit self service diesel. Remember, however, Oregon has long prohibited self service gasoline and attendants simply aren't aware of different regulations for diesel. Note too that state law prohibits 'topping off' a tank - but - allows the attendant to restart the fill if he/she thinks the tank is not yet full. No way to enforce this regulation but it is simply an attempt to keep overflowing gasoline from polluting the environment. For those complaining of a lack of self service, note that Oregon voters have been responsible for prohibiting self service - the concept has been offered on multiple occasions - they simply don't want it.
