Purchasing an RV in Coos Bay, OR - Need an inspection

Hi,

I think I've finally found the RV for my family and I. It's a 2000 Alpine Coach 40DFS Limited Edition. I'm located in St. Louis, MO and wondering if anyone has a referral for a good, honest person that can inspect the unit for me? I'd like to have this done in the next day or two. I plan to pick it up the middle of next week as long as everything checks out.

Would you recommend I look on Craigslist or call a dealer? Coos bay is about 2 hours SW of Eugene.

Thanks and we are super stoked about the new ride!

  • Jordan it's super challenging to make a big purchase long distance. You need a very flexible seller. I was ready to put a deposit on a coach that was only 400 miles from me and that was hard enough. The dealer wanted to give me a 48 hour window to get my independent inspection or they would start taking back up offers. I walked. Before you get too serious about a coach on the opposite end of the country, work through the entire process and time frame with the seller then document your understanding and get something in writing, maybe just an email. This is a good time to buy in the north. Do your best to find one locally. It's a lot easier.
  • Call Kevin Waite in Junction City, OR. He is a master RV tech and does this type of inspection often.

  • Don't know if they do inspections but Porters RV has always done me right. If they don't do inspections they may lead you to someone that will.
  • Jordan, just wanted you to know that your buying a Super fine coach! There billed as the finest steering coaches in the World. I've been to the factory in Yakima, Washington State where Western RV was manufacturing them. And I've also been to a few Western RV Rallies. There very nice luxury coaches. Good Luck with your new ride!
  • Be extra cautious about rust if the vehicle has spent much time on the coast.
