Put MH on boards or not for winter

Hello All, this winter will be my first for storing my gas MH outdoors. I have my cover purchased and have already winterized. My question is should I put the unit on treated boards when I park it or let it sit on the gravel that I just spread (not a concrete driveway)? A few things to note: We live in Tennessee where the climate will be better than where we came from (Iowa), and I do plan to start and run the unit at least monthly during the off season. Thanks for your responses, and any other winter storage tips that you wish to pass on would also be appreciated. Scott.

  • Howdy Scott. We've had RoadAbode For 10 years now. We park her on Macadam. I have never parked her on boards. I do cover her tires over the winter months. Funny I just wrote on her blog about all the steps we do to prep RoadAbode for her "long winter's nap".
We also don't cover her, because I'd be afraid of the cover being buffeted by wind and rubbing the roof. That said, I can see her top stripe of graphic is showing cracks. Plan on taking that off this spring to make her look a little cleaner. You got the right idea to run her monthly - don't forget the genny. Are you fortunate enough to store her by your home? Living in the city, I have to store RoadAbode at a storage facility. Great secure place and nice owners, but it be so great to use her as a "man Cave" when I need a little quiet of my own.

Good luck with this winter - I think you guys already had it colder there than we did in Philly - until today.
