If you don't mind me asking, how did the frame get in such a state? So many on this forum believe a DP will go forever. Simple truth is once you get a repair bill that is more then the rig is worth, that is the death of the rig regardless gas or diesel.
I can't speak for the OP, but my Dutch Star has been attacked by the brine solution used to treat roads in the snow belt. The perimeter steel framework for the bays and other additions to the undercarriage require frequent attention to keep them from simply rusting away.
This may not impact some owners who don't use their units in the winter months or get out of the snow country before it snows.
