Ok, now Bruce has one experience...better than the hear say of Passing Through, but still lacking in providing substantial knowledge as he is basing his opinion/expeerience on one coach... Do you believe that Newmar has not put out coaches that required the same amount of attention? As Effy mentioned above, you can find problem coaches in ANY brand....and I mean ANY brand. But to judge one brand on a very limited experience or hear say just isn't right.
When we bought our Phaeton, we were very close to buying a 43' Ventana....it was a nice coach but I had concerns. The Phaeton 42.5' coach with basically the same floor plan and price had more going for it. The Phaeton had a bigger engine with more HP and torque, a TV that you could actually look at straight on, fireplace, dishwasher, heated floors, endless hot water, bigger tires, more interior cabinet space....Granted, the Phaeton is probably closer to the Dutch Star than to the Ventana, but the prices were very similar. To date after two years and 10,000 miles, the only problems I've encounter are those that I was able to fix myself. It's a nice coach but it's no better (or worse) than any other make/model of similar price.
For the OP...you need to look at different make/models to find the floor plan that works for you. Basically, most coaches are pretty much built alike with similar appliances, engines/trans, appointments. If you're looking at used, be sure to REALLY check it out for any signs of leaks, tire mfg dates, soft spots in floors and if you're really lucky, one that has complete maintenance records from previous owners.

Now, I'm not saying that Tiffin is a better coach than Newmar, just that
