Question about Forest River Forester - fresh water valve

Hi, Folks. I have a very model-specific question here. My wife
and I have a new Forest River Forester 3171DS. The fresh water tank
will not accept water into it from the hose, just spits it right
back out. As this is a new rig, I read up a little and realized
there is likely a knob someplace which opens a valve to let water
in. This is even verified by a video on the Forest River website
(not my model). I have emailed and called Forest River this week,
and have received no responses back, which really makes me mad, but
that gripe is for another thread (or not).

Does anyone have a Forest River Class C, and can you tell me where
your fresh water intake valve is?

Thanks for your consideration.

  • Same problem here. Went to Home Depot and purchased some clear tubing as it is the most flexible. It is 1/2 ID. In the same isle you will find a garden hose adapter with a barbed fitting. Also buy a hose clamp to attach. It also helps to use an in line hose shutoff so you can regulate the flow of the water. You can then shove the hose further into the tank. It is poorly designed as the air coming out uses the same inlet as the water going in. By regulating the incoming water you will find the sweet spot.
  • My Sunseeker is the red-headed little sister of your Forester. It does not have any valve in the fresh water fill. But the fill tube has an upward bend between the fill opening and the tank. I could modify it. But instead, I have a 30 inch piece of water hose that I attach to the end of the hose I'm using to fill the tank. I feed the short hose most of the way into the fill tube. Works like a charm.

If someone tells you you have a plugged vent, that is not it.
  • We have a Sunseeker Class C by Forest River and our water intake is at the back of the rig.

I have found lots of valuable info at The Forest River Forums. The forums are not actually sponsored by Forest River but by those who own Forest River RV's.

    Hope this helps you.
