question about towing a jeep wrangler.

I have a 32 foot class C and just bought a Jeep Wrangler. I plan to tow 4 down, I don't know if I need brakes for the toad or not. They seem expensive and I will have to save for them. Will I be ok towing with out them? Some people have said I really don't need them for a Jeep Wrangler. Wondering what the mind trust in here has to say, and any suggestions as what to get?

Thanks and happy camping

  • Some states require brakes on toad s over 3000lbs. Wranglers are over 3000lbs. If there is a problem the you have a legal problem also w/o brakes.
  • I tow a Wrangler, I have brakes for it. I'm REALLY GLAD I have those brakes when I'm driving down steep grades (yes, I downshift, but still…). I do a lot of interstate travel, I can't be bothered with checking with every states rules and regulations, to me the prudent thing to do is opt for the safety route. If I'm ever in a wreck (knock on wood) I at least want to have the assurance that I made my rig as safe and efficient as it could be for the road. Stuff happens. Sometimes, like it or not, you have to stop fast and that Jeep is going to be pushing you if it doesn't have brakes.
  • I believe South Dakota requires brakes. I have brakes on my Jeep Wrangler even though WY doesn't require them.
