Question?

If you can find a Triple E Regal to buy? That has a high insulation value, heated tank bays and dual-pane Thermo windows. I still have to blanket off the front cab area, but the house part is true 3 season. At some point tho, it all becomes just plain too cold.

All the RV walls are insulated the same.

With the C you have the cab to deal with. You have a windshield and side windows where all the cold will come in. And the van front end has no insulation.

You need to do all what was posted above^^ here and have a good heavy blanket or curtain to close off the cab from the rest of the MH when the temps really dip.

In a class A you have even a bigger problem due to the huge windshield that MH has and the difficulty trying to close off the front from the rest of the MH.

I don't know about Jerseydevil's RV, but I certainly can and have. I can also take a hot shower or get a half bucket of water to squeegee the windshield off. Enclosed tanks, a heated wet bay (via a little duct hose from the furnace), and plumbing runs within the insulated envelope of the RV make at least relatively moderate freezing temperatures a non-issue for water system operation. I would probably start having second thoughts if it gets too far below zero.

The most annoying parts for me are related to returning home: finding an open dump station, and having to re-winterize in the snow and cold and (sometimes) dark unless I want to keep the furnace running solely to keep the plumbing happy.

Actually if the original owner of my C had bought the low temperature package. It would operate very well below freezing. All of the fresh water pipes and tank are inside the unit. It lacks tank heaters and valve heaters.

Sorry, I didn't see it until now. It should be i-10 not I-90. My apologies.

I raised the issue because when I visited Jayco's Class C webpage, as we are considering moving to a Class C, I was shocked with the R value listed. It is a lot less than my FW.

Doesn't it get a bit to cold in southern Minnesota during the winter to camp?

As others have said - blocking off the un-insulated cab area with a heavy blanket/quilt, etc helps a TON. Aside from that - I don't remember much difference between our 28' Class C and our 30' fiver, We always added reflectix insulation over the windows and "pillows" in the vent openings; and stayed nice and warm!

A list of brands/models that offer effective insulation and dual pane windows would be informative.
