I understand that a ralley is being held i Quartzite in Jan/2014, Has anyone attended one these and what goes on and any suggestions on what to look for as to camping,

This event happens once a year in January. It isn't a rally in the true sense. There are several rallies held in Quartzsite during this period of time for different groups. RV manufacturers, Escapies etc.
Quartzsite is a meca during the winter months for thousands and thousands of RVers. Most during the Big Show period of time. But many spend the entire winter there boondocking or in RV parks with facilities. You can boondock for free with no services or pay a minimal BLM fee for a two week period that gives you dump station and fresh water privileges. Even if you choose to park for free, those services are available with mobile units or you can just drive into town and find them for a nominal fee.

- We were there a few years back. We left here with 2 other couples and met up with some out there. If I remember correctly there were about 3 campers one pickup camper and 3 motor homes. Of course that was just our group. There are every kind of camping rig you can think off scatted all over there. Had a lot of fun, but it was mighty cold, wind about 25 mph blowing across. Dust was real bad. we built us a camp fire in the evening.
There were a lot of vendors down close to the town. There is a truck that comes around for dumping your tanks and one for fresh water. All for a fee.
The Government run camp grounds, there is a fee, not too much. But there are dump stations on the Government camp grounds. - Are there events going on all the or specific dates to arrrive
- Very small group these days, in the early 80's it was very large. Few more years and no one will stop anymore.

Went through the Q last week. Not much going on yet but it's being set up. Saw lots of vendors headed east on I-10. The campgrounds are about 1/3-1/2 full but the desert has plenty of space.....Dennis- As a point of clarification, this is just ONE view of the area. There are easily 5-10x the RV's than what is seen here.
- We're in Q right now......there are a lot of RV parks that aren't full......One even has a sign that says $1000 for a year.....(you have to pay for the year to get that price). Another charges $275. for the month of January. And like other said, BLM is ALWAYS available..... A local told me there are a lot fewer people this year than in past years. Lots of vendors set up.....we're wearing ourselves out checking them out. :) :) Lots of bargains. Within the next week, everything will BOOM......:) :) As another poster said......you have to experience it. :)
note: if you're not used to noise from traffic, avoid any RV parks on Hwy 10 or Hwy 95.....we live in the country and the noise would drive me nuts. But there are parks set back away from the highways. In the Chamber of Commerce booklet, we counted over 50 RV parks. :)
