Rack and Pinion Slide repair

I suspect some of the rollers on one slide of our 2004 National Tropical are broken. The slide drags in and out and similar problem resulted in roller replacement 3 years ago.

My question is, if I remove the inside trim that stops the out motion, can I hyper-extend the slide another 6 inches to gain access to the rollers without outside vertical support?

I have photos from the previous repair (cost $1200 labor) that shows the slide out 2-4 inches outside the coach, but doesn't show whether support was used.
  • My Power Gear slide mechanism has roller access inside the basement bins and inside the cabinets. The roller access on mine in the bins is covered by a black plastic box screwed to the underside of the floor beneath the slide, to keep dust and debris out. I just adjusted all the rollers on mine...found that two of them were not even making contact with the slide floor, and consequently, the slide was actually "sliding" along on the rubber seals and was out of square with the opening, causing the seals to not seal and letting rain come in.
