radiator drain plug

I have a friend with a 2005 Alfa See Ya M/H and needs to change the coolant and upgrade to ELC and he says he can't find the drain plug on the radiator. Anyone know where it is and the procedure for flushing and refilling the coolant system.
Thanks. I have always had good info on this site and bet this time is no different.

  • On the big Tiffin's there is none. You have to pull the lower radiator hose off at the lower radiator fitting.

    X2

Times have changed since we were kids and radiator fluids were changed twice a year, requiring drain plugs to make it easier. Now, radiators are flushed so infrequently that removing the lower hose is the only method.
  • On my coach I have a small drain plug on the passenger side of the radiator. You have to look real close or else you might not see it.
  • There all different, but sometimes you have to get a flashlight out and look up on the engine side of the radiator, just above the bottom of the radiator.
  • Thanks for all the input. I had never heard of a radiator without a drain plug. The new thing I learned today!
    Glad my M/H has one.

Maybe you can remove the radiator cap and snake a tube down the side tank to siphon it out. To flush one I usually pull a heater hose to discharge old fluid while keeping the radiator full with a hose.

No, don't try to siphon from the reservoir.

Pulling the lower hose is the way to do it.

And flushing with a hose running is a good way to have WAY too much coolant waste to dispose of.
