    1. Do you have a slanted vent on the OUTSIDE wall of the MH for the range fan to exhaust?

If you do check under the vent. On my first used MH I found the previous owner stuck a piece of foam in it to prevent it from flapping when driving down the road. Which is why the fan wasn't sucking air properly.

I believe that flap is for the exhaust from the fan, not an air intake.
My current RV has a fabric type flap which can't be secured from flapping, as it is. Previous RVs had plastic flaps, which had plastic tabs which could be used to hold it closed when/if needed.

    2. If you do 'not' have a vent on the outside. You then have one of the newer range hood fans that only sucks the air thru a filter in the hood. It doesn't exhaust outside so the drawing effect in the MH is no where's near the same as a vented one.
  • I just replaced mine with a 200 cfm computer fan with a fan controller. It works much better at moving air and is much quieter when turned way down. Even when running at it's lowest speed, it moves at least as much air as the original fan, at high speed it's amazing at air flow!

These hoods have "some way" to block the air flow off for driving. Be sure yours is open. It may be catches on the outside, a baffle in the hood, maybe something else.
  • Replace the fan with the largest cfm computer fan you can find. Easy upgrade. they move more air and are almost totally quiet. I have done this in 2 trailers owned in the past.
  • Check that the fan blades aren't hit something, this is the biggest cause of vent noises.
