No, MasterBoondocker... The "Split bead" rim is what they are talking about and is commonly referred to as "split rim" (at least since the late 60's as I remember)... I don't remember ever seeing a "real" two-piece rim on a highway capable vehicle (Open pit cooper mine yes :P).
This "split" controversey is a shame. EQUIPMENT and TRAINED PEOPLE ??.. LOL
JUST as long as you use common sense and CARE ... that is all you need. And there ARE shops that work on these all-the-time.
And K-guy ... there ARE "real" split rims. And THOSE are the ones that are to be "feared".
