No, no the coach is not ready to be picked up. Please don't misunderstand me. Here are a list of items that still need to be fixed...
1. Squeaky Floor
2. Rear slide out does not properly close at the bottom (gap large enough to stick your hand in)
3. Torn fabric on a coach cushion.
4. Misaligned cabinet doors and drawers.
5. Torn Weather strip for large slide out where Shcwintek gears chewed the weather strip.
6. Missing remote control for in dash stereo/camera
7. Entire slide out was warped and twisted when the Schwintek failure occurred. Thor is ignoring this all together. That's why I am asking for an extended warranty when it falls apart in a couple years.
I have not retained an attorney because I will represent myself until I feel like all other options have been exhausted. If I retain an attorney I will lose all ability to communicate with CW and/or Thor. So, to that end I have not reached the end of my rope as far as the legalities go. Yes, I have reached the end of the rope as far as the problems with this Palazzo go.
I might take to youtube. At least I can demonstrate in video all the problems. Apparently that worked for this other dude that had all the same issues. Thor offered him a new coach. The kicker was, we didn't even take it.
Fault 1: squeaky floor - who hasn't had a home or car where something didn't rattle or squeak? Annoying yes, but surely doesn't justify a new coach.
#3 torn fabric - upholstery shop less than $500 to completely recover.
# 4 mis-aligned cabinet doors - $100 cabinet maker can easily re-align
#5 torn weatherstrip $300 body shop replace
#6 missing remote $50 online to replace. That leaves #2 and #7. #2 could be either the result of mis-alignment now corrected (since you won't go pick up the coach), normal (my much more expensive rig has gaps between trim and walls even though the seals match perfectly) or a major defect, which you will need to further document.
#7 you don't say if it is still twisted and warped, which if documentable is a major defect or if it twisted and warped when the slide malfunctioned and then flexed right back into place (the slides are made to flex)
Items 1,3,4,5 and 6 total less than $1000 max. If you really think they are that serious and CW and Thor are refusing to pay, get it in writing there is no problem found, document the flaws via photos, get them fixed and go to small claims court and let the judge decide. Bear in mind, you probably will lose on the cabinets, the squeak, probably most of the cost of the upholstery (since it probably could be repaired for much less than recovering) and maybe on the weatherstrip if the damage doesn't compromise the function.
You are going to need an attorney and true expert testimony (not your opinion, not opinions on these forums, not opinions from a neighbor) that will contradict the position of CW and Thor that items #2 and #7 are not problems. This will be difficult and expensive, especially if it is not clearly evident (i.e slide twisting cracked the exterior paint or bent something or the slide clearly does not seal when closed). Sad that you are having these problems, unfortunately the standard for a new anything is not perfection. Legally you have to let them fix things and even then, perfection or even "to your satisfaction" is not the standard the repair would need to meet. Good luck to you
