I have a 2012 Greyhawk 31FS, it did not come with a spare. The rim and tire cost just under $450 from Ford. Stock, rating stamped wheel just like the ones on the chassis. There is room up under the bed on a 31FS, other models may not have the same clearances.
I opted to mount it on a receiver hitch post mount from e-trailer and carry it on back when not carrying bikes. I bought and installed a front class 3 hitch on the front of the coach. I have since moved the spare to the front.
It added weight to the front axle load, but I have not noticed a decrease in handling or engine/trans temp increase. I would almost say the extra weight/down force, has helped handling.
I cannot take a long trip without a spare. I see it greatly reducing the amount of time spent on the roadside and that will increase our safety.
Plus is the tire matches others and i will not have to double pay for a temporary field fix in the boonies.
