Thanks everyone- and I mean everyone! We have some great options based on what we learned here.
We are traveling back towards reno on a Sunday morning, so the traffic won't be as much of an issue. We will be staying in San Diego at Chula Vista RV resort and Marina on Saturday night- a chance to get to know the RV and have the seller walk us through any issues.
We will stay in Boulder Creek in Lone Pine on Sunday night and then run up to Reno via 395 on Monday.
We now have 3 more trips planned (Vegas to the oasis, Sedona and Grand Canyon - still looking for a place to stay, and Tahoe). This site is a great resource.
