Surely they didn't charge you $120 to park in the driveway! There should have not been ANY charge for that night.
Yes, they do.  No different than a hotel or other reservation system (other than locked gate).  Most parks/resort keep the sight reserved and you pay whether you show or not.  They cannot afford to let t he sight go empty and unpaid for.  They need to stay liquid.
