A 25% increase from 9 to 11.5 mpg will save you a whopping $380 every 5000 miles.
yes it is a trivial amount. But it's fun to try to make things more efficient.
And since we are in the Motorhome area, we should stick to MHs.
Fact: Class A's, gas or diesel, will not see 11.5 sustained for a tank. Or even 9 for that matter. Just because you saw it on the computer doesn't mean your MH gets that.
Fact: Most class A's will get 6-8, as a rule.
Fact: A tuner does help, but I am pulling nearly 40K. I may get more power, but see last fact. 6-8 mpgs.
Nature of the beast. Only difference in gas vs diesel for me is altitude. I pass a lot of gassers on the mountain passes. Fact, we are both still getting 6-8 mpg. (gasser probably seeing 5 in the mountains)
Fact: Harder it works, less mpgs you get. Why a diesel may see better mileage on hills, in wind, and with more weight.
Did I say 6-8?
