Rear Dual Valve Extentions

Have you thrown away your wheel covers yet? That is a far greater impediment to checking tire pressures! Once you get rid of those things you can easily check the six tires in 5 minutes. Fancy stems would shave that down another minute or two. You do need a pressure gauge with a straight on end, no 45 degree angle, for the inner wheel and an angle only on the backward facing end for the outer wheel.

I bought my tires at Costco last year and they had only two choices for stems - short and very short plastic ones. I took the short ones. Costco did a nice thing, installing the dual wheels so bothchalcedon stems are in the same rim hole - another minute saved. I do have one inch plastic extenders on the dual wheels, mostly so I don't need valve caps. I have not had any trouble with them so far but after my experience with another kind, I carry a short piece of hose I can use to whip one of those extenders off in seconds if it fails to close after a pressure check. And a 12 V air pump.

The little hose idea is very nice on the car in winter, too. Take a valve cap to a hardware store and buy six inches of hose that fits snugly on the cap so you can turn it off without sticking fingers into the opening in those stupid wheel covers.

With this tool, I could keep valve caps on the MH duals. It would only cost two or three minutes more in pressure checks.

I had a pro truck tire shop custom bend and install solid brass stems on all six tires shortly after I bought our then new 2004 Tioga. It cost me around
$200 for stems and labor. Have read of somewhat cheaper around $100+.BTW, had new Michelin tires installed recently by Allen Tire store, no problems with previously installed custom valve stems. Tires are not rotated on Class C RV's

Better find another tire shop to replace the valve stems if that one wants $400! I would buy the TIRE MAN stems then shop around for a local tire shop that has realistic prices.

I removed mine when I installed the Pressure Pro tire monitoring system. I place the sensors directly on the valve stems, easy to reach in if the wheel is rotated to the right position. I remove in the winter and place a cap over the stems. In the spring I check the pressure using a Griot garage digital gage along with a flexible screw on valve adapter hose from Presta Cycle, very simple, no lost air for the most part.

I had the Dually valves installed when I purchased my new tires...one of the best upgrades I have made. No leaks, and it only takes minutes to check/air all tires.

dually valve only way to go. i would never put another extension on anything.

Inexpensive Set for Inner Only

Just be sure they're Airless, Zero Pressure, or equivalent. And the valve you attach to is metal.

Amazon has a lot of these also.

The Sudeth deal looks like a pretty good price. Best time to do this is with new tires. Then the stem install should be free.

IF IF IF the stems in the wheels now are METAL, the Braided Jacket AIRLESS Flex Extenders are an OK alternative. The AIRLESS versions aren't cheap, but you can do a Self Install at Zero Dollars. AIRLESS??? Means that there is not a Shrader Core at the end of the Extender. When you put an Air Gauge or Air Chuck onto the Extender, you push on a flexible shaft that opens the Shrader Valve on the Wheel itself. That way there's no chance for leakage if a pressurized extension/extender leaks on the road. Here's a set from Pacific Dualies



Just be sure the technology is AIRLESS.

And IF the actual wheel stem is METAL. VERY risky to attach anything to a Rubber Valve Stem.

WOW I paid $120 to have them installed at Sudeth Tire thats pretty cheap @ $20 a tire, when you have them removed,broke down,installed, and re balanced and re installed.

Great service and they know how to do it,they have done lots of them.

I called tire man and it is over $400.00 to have done, anything any less pricier somehow, somewhere?
