The Powergear slides that use two separate motors have a sync feature that stops the faster slide momentarily to allow the slower end to catch up so that the slide doesn't get too crooked going in or out.
It looks like the slide is stopping but it is only one end that is stopping. You can test this by pushing on the slower end and seeing if then the slide moves continuously.
The jerking can be caused by greater friction on one end or just a slightly weaker/slower motor.
Mine has done it since new, 6 years and 50k mile.
