Rear Tires

Noticed today our rear tires are finally down to the minimum wear indicators. We put them on in 2009, at 8600 miles, today we indicate 73,000 miles.
I guess we will replace with another set of Michelins XA2 or 3 before we go one any more long trips.
  • Just replaced all 10 of my rigs tires plus 4 on the trailer 2 years and 8 months old with 249,850 miles. Went with Michelins.

Someone actually wore out a set of Michelin’s before the sidewall cracks got to big...amazing. I went 10 years on my 6 rear tires and they still look good on the back of my dump truck...15 years old.

I'm just amazed that ten year old tires didn't shred themselves on the highway.

Coming up from Texas last week we were running 65 +- MPH in 90- degree heat, no problems.

Lots of CYA built into tire warrantees, What I worry about most is road hazard damage.
  • When I worked around fleet vehicles they would "age out" tires when they hit 7 years old even if they still had tread.

  • Obviously you know how to take care of your tires. It makes no sense to switch brands when you have a proven track record with Michelins.
I have had similar experience with mine.
