Reasonable Price For Annual Service

Does anyone know of a facility in north central Calif. to do annual service on my DSDP with a Cummins 8.3 ISL? I have been using R-Mechanic in Livermore, CA but I always spend $700 to $1000 for required annual service (oil, lube, filters, etc.). My transmission is due to have the fluid drained and replaced and they said that alone will run about $1100 plus the other required service. It is getting to the point where I can no longer afford it.
  • If you already have Transend in your tranny it may not need servicing
Best to find an alison dealer.$1000.00 for tranny service it a total rip off. 5 gallons of transend will run somewhere around $250.00 filter pack 55 to 65 so total material 300+ should take less than and hour.
    I do my own.
  • 3-27-13 I had my DP with 8.3 engine and Allison trans serviced. Changed trans fluid & filter, fuel filters, air filters, pressure washed engine, fixed a power steering leak, plus changed the oil, oil filter and fuel filter on the diesel generator. $545.80 including $25.89 tax.....Year before it was $257.15 without the generator and transmission. I think someone above me in this post is getting robbed. Exec is about the same.
  • For lube, oil change, (41 quarts) filter change, (oil and 2 fuel), coolant check, (level and SCA) Speedco charges me $288.00. A bottle of SCA if necessary is about $10.....tranny service, expecially if you're using TranSyd will be expensive, but I'd have Allison do it.. It should be a one time thing as TranSyd lasts forever.........Dennis
  • Speedco for your lube, oil, filter service. They also do fuel filters. I'm sure the total cost will be much less than $700 to $1,000. Go to the Allison web site and use their fluid change calculator to see if it really requires changing, then find another shop to do the service since your quoted price seems very high.
  • You are going to have to be more specific as to what you are having done. Those figures sound high for what I do annually.
