Rebuilt the TV mount...
On our last trip, we were in Quartzsite and I wanted to watch the NFL playoffs. No luck with getting over the air signal but it got worse. We almost never use the TV and consequently, the reticulating arm/mount had gotten pretty stiff. Add in 54K+ miles where we had hit just about every pothole between Tucson and Maine... you can see where this going.
When I went to pull the TV out from its stored position against the cabinet the whole thing pulled out as all of the screws that formally secured it let go simultaneously... arrrg.
Yesterday and today were spent reframing, seriously beefing up the original cabinet. I used some quality three quarter inch plywood in combination with much larger ss screws {2" #10's} and half a dozen "L" brackets. My neighbor gave me a nice chunk of Cherry and now it is definitely "Mo betta".
Probably still won't use it much but it's nice to know we can.
