Been on recall for a year or more for the Liberty. The fuel tank is considered at risk during a rear-end collision. The solution is installation of a free trailer hitch. Got bugged about it for most of that year even though mine's a diesel (not a fire hazard in a collision) and had a trailer hitch already installed when purchased new. Last time I had it in for some work, the dealer "performed" that recall, consisting of noting that it already had a trailer hitch (the very factory unit they proposed to install), slapping an "inspected and approved" sticker on it, and updating the factory database.
But good of you to remind anyone with a gasser who hasn't had this recall done. Safety strongly recommends it, and besides, it gives your ride some extra capability, whether you choose to use it or not.
