What kind of tape did you use for the temporary patch?

If installed properly, Eternabond is a permanant repair. You should consider replacing the temporary patch before coating the roof.

FWIW, I coated the roof of our 96 Southwind 37' (30' of actual roof) with 2 1/2 gallons of Hengs Rubber Roof Coating. (2 light coats)

Make sure your roof is clean before applying any coating.

I gave my EPDM rubber roof three coats of Heng's after cleaning off all of the old caulk on the whole roof and recaulking with dicor self leveling caulk. My roof was down to the black rubber. Took me about three weeks to complete the whole project. I used the Heng's in the orange can which I bought off Amazon. Took two gallons for the entire project for my 37ft motorhome.


I also put eternabond tape across the front seam where the rubber meets the cap. Hope this helps.

The recoating of a rubber roof can be a daunting task. I know, we did it. And, we did it with the Dicor roof coating. They have a very specific procedure to follow and, we followed it to the letter. No, we didn't remove anything. We did it to our previous coach, a '99 Fleetwood Bounder, 34V with the F-53 Chassis and Triton V-10.

Without a doubt, it was one pain in the a$$ day. We did it all in one day. And, it was a 95 degree day. It started at 06:00 in the morning with a thorough washing with a stiff brush and soap and water. Then, after drying, we used the Dicor one-step prep and primer. That is applied with a garden type hudson sprayer. You immediately POWER WASH that off. A tad bit of a warning here. If you or, anyone choses this method, have a helper on the ground, continually rince the coach with a garden hose while pressure washing the prep-primer off.

Your coaches wax job does not like that stuff. So, it's advised to keep the coach wet while the power washing is done. Then, when that's all dry, then the coating begins. We did a heavy coat and, waited for it to dry. About 2:00 or 2:30, it was ready for a second coat. We applied it and, by 3:30 or 4:00, the coach was done.

My son and I did all that work in one day. We sold that coach about 2 years after it was done to our daughter and son-in-law. They kept it for 3 years. The day they were selling it, I climbed up on the roof to take a look, that coating was as nice then, as it was 5 years before, when we did it. I'd recommend it in a heartbeat.
