No, you cannot run the copper line. Unfortunately, the ice maker line in the 1200LRIM is a PRESSED in fitting at the top of the reefer box. If it was a threaded fitting then you could simply add the copper line, but it's not. Mine failed twice after the replacement of the cooling unit with the Amish one. IMHO, it's another flaw in an already flawed unit.
To access the fitting, the box must be pulled forward far enough to reach it. You could pull the box forward yourself and access the back through the outside access plate, but you'll almost have to be a contortionist to do it.
The third time mine failed, I pulled the box and replaced it with the residential Samsung 197. Best improvement I've ever made.....Dennis
