Water Heater Problem

I have a 2015 Arctic Fox 5th wheel with an Atwood water heater. Just recently it stopped working on electric, but worked fine on propane, I replaced the heating element, both thermostats, the on/off switch in the exterior water heater compartment, and verified the 110v breaker is functioning. Still does not work on electric, but fine on propane. Anyone have this problem?  Any suggestions?

  • ok so mine has the little button inside the water heater cover its self, but it has a seperat electric button beside the gas button in the panel that is actualy the start.  the second is like a fail safe so it won't start up from inside even if you bump the button unless you intend to run it on 120V

Really? I’ll look for something like that. Good to know.

  • If at any time you turned on the electric side of the water heater without any water in the tank you likely burned out the electric element(s), even if new. Before you replaced the electric element did you test it to see if it was burned out? Did you test the new element after installation to see if it is burned out? Did you check the terminals of the element to see if there was power there and at what voltage?

I have checked continuity on the heating element and 110v input wires. Both checkout fine. I think it is most likely the DC relay switch at the back of the water heater. Any ideas on replacing this; good brands, bad brands, best place to buy?
