The most common ice maker a U-Line, this name comes from a heater that is U-shaped forming a U-line on the bottom of the unit..
This type has a solenoid outside the RV in the outside fridge compartmetn (Where the water was leaking from ) and a very poor quality hose that connects the solenoid valve to the ice maker inside the Freezer, this tube splits and sprays,
IT can be replaced, odds are with a better line
My recommendation is this;
Carefully remove the inside parts and store in basement, Replace with 2-4 Rubbermaid plastic ice cube trays, Enjoy more ice faster and do not worry about leaks.
To fill tray Fill all but the last 2 or 4 cells, then tilt to fill them and re-level, you drip less on the way to the freezer this way.
Where do you get this nonsense????????????? Uline is a BRAND of Refer/Icemakers for residential and commercial use, they also have an undercounter Icemaker only model that a LOT of RV makers install in RV's. The Icemaker in Dometic and Norcold RV refers is usually a Whirlpool brand icemaker. Norcold and Dometic sell the icemaker under their name but if you take the icemaker assbly to an Appliance supply store they will match it with one of the 2 major brands. Doug
