Refrigerator Problems

My Dometic Refrigerator quit on both electric and gas. I check the two fuses and both OK. The door panel on/off light works and it will show auto or gas but nothing happens. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Fridge has panel lights but AC or propane don't work/

Common to those are the thermistor and lower circuit board

    You can test both.

HERE is a Service Manual that covers your model.

    Pgs 11 & 14 have test procedures

Take it for a ride--sometimes the ammonia will thicken and stick. Our son got his going a few times this way. Try it on gas with shore line unplugged so it is running on gas and battery only. Eventually our son's Norcold worked perfect after a converter replacement (dirty DC). If you want to drive to northern IN, National RV Refrigeration in Shipshewana is very good and probably the least expensive.

  • I have a Norcold that did the same thing. I had to replace the control board.
  • When on electric does the element get hot?

When on propane does the main flame light/stay lit?

IF YES to both..........and no cooling (several hours) then cooling unit is probably dead. Coolant leaked out (ammonia smell/yellow residue) or is completely blocked (too much off level operation/overheating of coolant)

    What Brand/Model.....
  • Any ammonia smell, could be a refrigerant loss. Any yellowish residue around the rear of the unit?
