Refrigerator repair

A while back I posted on here about my refrigerator not working correctly.
I had a supposedly qualified repair man work on it. He installed new fans at a very high cost. That didn't fix it. It was freezing great in the freezer part but the refrigerator was not cooling at all.
He then wanted to take it too his shop and keep it a few days to be able to check the temp about every hour. After 4 days I called and said I would pick it up as he didn't seem to be making any progress.
At that time he said I would need a new cooling unit. He told me I could find one on line cheaper than he could get one. While searching for a cooling unit I found a sheet called
    Norcold Refrigerator/Maintenance Tips.
I found this page had some great helpful tips. After giving me some tips on checking different items. It said the control box on the back of the refrigerator maybe locked out. it explained how to unlock it. I followed the instructions and that must have been the problem as it has been running now for 5 days and the freezer is doing fine and the refrigerator part is set on #7 cooling and it stays at 33-34 degrees constant.
Any one having a problem you can go on line to Norcold Refrigerator Maintenance Tips and it is very helpful.
You need no special tools or equipment to do the checking things.
I just typed into goggle. Norcold Refrigerator Maintenance Tip

if the control box was "locked out" then the fridge would not work at all as in no freezer and no fridge. Glad u got it working but what u posted makes no sence at all
  • Two ways to reset a Norcold...

    1. Remove the 12V Black wire from the black box. Wait about 2 minutes and plug it back in. This basically performs a "soft reset" of the board.

    2. If you have a NO CO fault pin 15 needs to be jumped inside the black box. USE CAUTION while performing this step. This performs a "hard reset" of the board. This step can be used as a last ditch effort if nothing else works....Dennis
  • Great post... be sure to always check the forum for any repair first. Sometimes there are simple laid out instructions just sitting there for the reading!
  • Sweet! I have heard if they stop working to pull them out and turn upside down for a day then re install we had an old one it worked for awhile but got a new one because we didnt want to lose the food in the freezer again.
  • Got a link to that 'Norcold Refrigerator Maintenance Tips' so others don't have search?

What's strange is that if it was locked out........there would be no power so nothing would have worked. Did you have any error codes?

#7 cooling setting is at the high end of temp control for fridge so your cooling unit may not be functioning correctly.

Hope it continues staying cold....good luck!
