plan ahead ,look to fill at half tank , use a app like Gas buddy to find stations and you can then view a overhead view in the app or on google earth to plan your entry AND exit.
I find after spending thousands on the RV lifestyle saving a few cents a gallon at the pump isn't a priority, we look for ease of access and a reasonable price and if we see a place we fill even if it the tank isn't real low.
since moving to a DP with a trailer some of that has changed (more truck stop use) but the plan is still the same.
