relay located behind my tv???

I have a 96 bounder 32H,I'm in process and remodelimg some things inside the coach and in the process i've decided to replace the front Tv.When I removed it yesterday I found A relay and a fuse holder that was located behind the Tv.I have no idea what it does or why its there.

Anyone have any idea what its purpose is for?.

  • I pulled out our TV to install a flat screen, 94 Bounder. The relay and fuse are inside the TV cabinet on ours. I figured the relay was to disable the TV while driving. Not sure what the fuse is for, have to go look again but it's 30 amp or better. Also a couple of bundles of wires that are taped up. Haven't had a chance to sort through it all yet.

Be aware that tickets HAVE BEEN ISSUED for operating TV where the driver can see it..

I know this because the Trooper who wrote the ticket (in one case) ask me to ask hour Sgt. to look up the chapter and verse (Section of law) so he could properly document it on the face of the ticket.

(If you gotta learn that lession, getting paid to do so is the best way, FREE (This way) is second best, Paying tuition (Fine) the worst).
  • I have the same relay and fuse in my 95 Bounder and don't have a clue what they do. Mine is buried behind my VCR. But they are NOT for disabling the TV. They are low voltage devices. The relay for disabling the TV is behind a dual gang wall plate on our Bounders. Guess it's time to remove the fuse and see what fails.

Start the engine and the relay disables power to that outlet, thereby disabling the TV set.

X2 I pulled one wire off the relay and taped it now the tv works while driving down the road.

  • Whats it switching or what switches it?
    Two possibilities:
    - 110vac power relay to keep the TV off when in motion
    - Speaker relay to transfer from the dash radio or the A/V sound system
  • Best thing I ever did was put my digital camera on close up, then get in close and take a picture of the relay. Once I brought it up on the computer, I was able to put in the numbers on the relay board, and google led me right to what is was and how it worked.
