- popeye766ExplorerI just finished painting my Pace Arrow....removed the decals like this....Razor blade in a holder to remove decals,Goof off in a spray can and razor blade the remove adhesive....after spraying immediately scrape with the razor blade . Can take off yards at a time. Bast*** of a job..Pace Arrow probably has more ugly decals than any other.
- deandecExplorerMineral spirits or paint remover applied by a terry cloth towel. But try it only in a small out of the way spot first. I have had some success removing Dicor sealant with this method on clear coat over paint.
- BuckBarkerExplorerBe very cautious of using the eraser wheel on painted surfaces that have not been baked! I would NOT recommend using it. I tried it on my decals which were over paint that was not baked. No matter how lightly I pressed or how slow I ran the wheel, it damaged the paint.
My decal removal process is still a work in progress. I tried, Goof off, WD-40, DeSolv-it, adhesive remover made by Permatex, lighter fluid and tiki torch fluid. The vinyl of each decal came off very easily, but the adhesive remained. My best luck was with fresh gas and a non-scratching scrubbie pad. I would work a small area and had a bucket of soap and water to wash the surface to remove the gas. I kept doing this in small areas till I was done with a particular decal. - TucsonJimExplorer IIWD-40 will work. If you ever get any adhesive residue on glass, brake fluid will take it right off, but it will also remove any paint if not wiped off immediately.
- naturistNomadGoo Gone (I've never used it, but have heard good things), or 90% isopropanol (aka the high-test version of rubbing alcohol, available at any pharmacy or Wally World), or mechanics hand cleaner (get the stuff without pumice). Be sure to test any of these on a very small patch in a hidden area before applying widely, and Good Luck!
- hotbyteExplorerDepends on type of glue used, but I've seen some that if you rub over it with your hand you can kind of roll it up and pick it off. I've also used WD-40 and a small plastic putty knife or plastic pot scraper to get residue off.
- scbwrExplorer IIAnother option is WD-40. I used it to clean up decal residue on the aluminum siding of the Sunline trailer that I had for 10 years.
