Our dinette frame work, as I thought all others are, is a simple wooden structure. Lifting the seating cushion gains access to the entire cavity below which is completely open for storage. In many cases, the RV company places mechanical items inside, for example the fresh water tank, furnace & ductwork, power transfer switch, things like that.

So your description of obstructive frame work has me scratching my head. Could you provide a picture?
