Replace 235/80R 22.5 XRV Tires

It's time to replace my Michelin 235/80R 22.5 tires on 2009 F53 chassis Thor Windsport
I hear the Michelins may not be available.
Since the 235/80 seems to be unique to Michelin, I may need to change sizes.
I have read a bunch of posts and looked at the links on comparing tire sizes.
My question is, how do you know a slightly wider tire will fit on the 22.5 x 7.5 wheel and not cause rubbing problems on the dual axle?
I see posts where folks run a wider tire but I can't seem to find anything in the tire guides that specify wheel/rim width approved sizes.
Thanks!

Look at Load Rating, diameter, revolutions per mile and minimum dual spacing as well as rim size. You can compare various sizes here:
    Tire Size Calculator

Dual spacing is determined by rim offset, if you measure between the centerline of each of the tires it will give you the dual spacing. (Extend the dashed lines to the tread to see the offset) HDS is half Dual Spacing or rim offset...

Another factor is wheel well clearance...

    Thanks hooligan!
Do you have a tire dealer you like in Pensacola area for 22.5 tires?
We are headed that way and will need tires soon.
Would be great if I could arrange by phone and have them ready!
  • I use 255 70r 22.5 which has a very good load capacity and you can get a replacement at most any truck stop that carries tires. Very good ride also.

  • I replaced 235/80's with 275/70's Hancock AH-12's on a Winnebago Journey.
  • i replaced my 235 80 22.5 with 255 70 22.5 .
have plenty of space between duals fully loaded.speedometer is off about 1.5 miles per hour.

  • You're right. Michelin makes tires in sizes that no one else uses, but other tire makers make tires in almost exactly the same sizes. The tire stores I've been to all seem to know what sizes are compatible with your rims and will give you the same diameter and footprint as your present tires. Don't worry about it. You should have a choice of several sizes that will work.
