My coach has a 27" CRT TV above the dash, sitting is a cabinet.If I purchase a 28" HDTV, it will fit inside the cabinet, with room to spare. If I purchase a 32" HDTV, it will fit flush on the outside, with about .5" on each side. I'd like the 32" size, and am wondering if anyone out there has done this, and how?Thanks.

Yes. I created a hinged cover for the opening that the new TV mounts on. used Oak plywood with edge moldings to make everything look good. The cabinet can still be accessed by lifting the TV and the cover plate up. Now use it for storage.

I think most folks go with what sch911 is describing using a piano hinge so you get access to the storage behind it. Other folks use articulating arms and mount it to the inside of the cabinet. The issue is keeping it from moving while in transit. There are several examples of installations in this RV tv installation article.

Yes, I put a 32 inch LG in that spot this September on,y class A. I put a nice piece of birch ply wood across the top of the hole flush. Then i attached the tv mount to that. This left some space on the bottom for my dish 722DVR and DVD player.

A 2x4 mounted vertically in the existing cabinet makes a great support "beam". If you use an articulated mount you can get the TV to swing out toward the mid-line of the coach. I've just replaced our existing articulated mount with one that both swings and lowers the TV so when it is being watched it is well below the level of the upper cabinets and just about in the middle of the coach. That puts it into an excellent viewing position both for someone on the sofa and another person on the recliner. My DW's complaint about our previous mount was that the TV was "too high" and her neck hurt from having to look up at it; this way it is nearly at head height.

I replaced the 2005 Sony with a 32" Samsung flat screen. The front cherry wood facing boards were removed. I had the cherry stain originally used in the coach, so I built a new frame to fit the Samsung and stained and varnished it to match. I had some of the cherry wood, but had to order the top 6" board from Rockler.

There was about a 10 degree tilt, so I mounted a 2" by 8" board in the old cabinet and bolted the mounting frame to it. The Samsung fit in the old cabinet with 2" per side, 4" on the bottom and 6" on the top. The new cherry frame had 1/2" strips glued inside to hold the Samsung. I also used 3/8" automotive weatherstripping next to the wood strips. When the cherry frame was placed against the Samsung, the black rubber holds it in place. It seems very solid.

I also installed a Winegard HD Trav'ler dish for DirecTV and connected the HDMI output to the Samsung.

I put a 50" LCD TV in the place of a 23" CRT. Took me three tries to get it the way I wanted. I kept using TVs that were too small. They failed to completely cover the original hole.

Replaced the 27" CRT with a 32" HDTV. Easy job considering the weight difference. What made it easy for me is the heavy framing Four Winds built around the old TV and the cable winch that held it in place.

I made my own mount. Doesn't swing out but only cost a few dollars in aluminum bar stock.

docj, can you spec the new mount for me. Mine swings out nicely and I thought it would be fine, but being able to swing out and lower down would be better. Please let me know where you got it and what it is. I am almost completed on my upgrade - now working inside the cabinet to neaten it up with both sub-woofer and satellite receiver. Thanks, Mike

I replaced our tv with a Samsung LED. I removed the vertical rails in the cabinet and built a plywood frame (about 4" deep)which slid into the opening. The frame had a plywood front that I then mounted the tv to. I can send pics if you want to PM me.
