replace over the cab bed with cabinets for storage

Here is what we did to convert the front overhead to a bulk cargo area. There used to be a folding mattress up there that we removed. The net keeps stuff from coming down while driving. There is no reason that a fabric barrier couldn't be used instead of the net if you don't like the look of stuff up there.

The nice thing is we can convert back to a sleeping area if need be.
