We're looking at buying a 2014 Fleetwood Terra with less than 10,000 miles. The Goodyear tires are original and are about 4 years old according to date on tires. The tires look new since they don't have many miles on them. Should they be replaced as soon as possible or do I have a year or so left on them?
One never knows where they've been and how they were kept, but I'd still be reluctant to replace them and being that I'm so tight with money.
Having said that, I bought under the same circumstances with 5yr old GY's. Took off on a long maiden voyage with the thought of trying her out and maybe replacing the tires this year. Low and behold, an inner dually blew out in NY and did over $8K in damage. The good news is that my insurance paid me for the damage and I fixed it myself for next to nothing.
Question is, why did it blow out and for whatever reason, I've only had two blowouts, with two coaches, both were GY 670's, with the former at 6yrs old and both were in NY state, so it's anybody's guess and most likely a wrong one.
