Replacing 4 6 volt batteries

Here comes another electrical question.

I need to replace my 4 6 volts coach batteries, I do not want to go the cost of AGMs. What would be the best choice for a 2006 Holiday Rambler Ambassador? I
  • My Sam's Club Duracell GC2 are going strong at two years. A few nights boon docking in parking lots since install but overall limited time unplugged. They also gave me $15 core refund on the two 12V batteries I exchanged. The price back then was $79.88 - the core refund.

Then we need to know what you run with your batteries so it isn't so painful trying to guess. It has nothing to do with what kind of RV you drive.
  • Any golf cart battery will work. It doesn't sound like you really work your batteries very hard or very often. Trojan are certainly excellent. Also Deka batteries are excellent.
  • We don't boondock for extended periods of time, but we will make overnight stops where no power is available.

When we make these stops, we like to enjoy our creature comforts so I don't want to have to limit what we do.

  • Sams Club has Golf cart batteries. I don't think they carry Trojans anymore.
I bought 4 of whatever they carry and they are fine.
  • Trojans will cost you more than 80.00 usually.
Check the dates on their mfg.
We paid about 160.00 each two years ago, which is way too much. they knew we needed them and they were the only game in town and charged CAT in Tuccson 20.00 more each for them.
    Don't put back less capacity.
The AGMs is what many put in new coaches but cost is high. A new company with lower prices sounds good.
Be sure your charger/inverter can handle or reset to the proper charging cycle for an AGM.
  • Hi,

Do you boondock? If not a single 12 volt battery is all you need.
  • You can get GC2 batteries at Sam's Club and Costco for about $80 or so. However I have had outstanding results with a new company called Vmax that makes AGM GC2 batteries http://www.amazon.com/VMAXTANKS-Volt-225Ah-AGM-Battery/dp/B009MOR58A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1418251003&sr=8-1&keywords=vmax+battery+6+volt
They can last as long as 10 years in float service applications.
