The biofuel rigs I've seen in campgrounds have been converted school buses. One had a penthouse made of a VW bus. I think the buses were already diesel, just converted for biofuel. Bryan's shuttle van suggestion is a good possibility if you want something smaller.
Those Dodge vans had about the smallest engine bays of the "modern" vans. Only the early Fords and Dodges with the engine between the seats, and the "Butthead" Fords were tighter. Bad enough to want to do a swap, but the Dodge is not a good transplant candidate.
I think any effort like this will be outrageously expensive unless you can get the diesel for little to no cash and pay little to no labor.
Also, if it's at all "modern" you need the electronics and the wiring harnesses needed to hook it all up. It really helps to have access to the complete donor vehicle.
