replacing rv sofa

want to replace sofa with either a pullout or a futon. want something comfortable to sleep on and can get through the door.have a 6 foot by 3 foot area to work with.thanks for help.forgot to add have slide on other side so have room to pull out sofa.
  • I replaced my OEM(Lippert?) sofa with a Belmont from Shop4Seats.com. Both sofas went through the door very easily after I took them apart. The Belmont is a huge improvement and is very comfortable to sleep on. Compared with the one in the picture above one feature I like about the Belmont is that the arm rests are removable so that you can the use space the arm rests take up and can even hang feet of the end if needed. It has an optional storage drawer underneath that is easy to use.

  • We took out the dinette and replaced it with a Flexsteel Sofa with an air bed mattress. It is very comfortable for sitting and for sleeping. The couch comes apart easily, and fits through the door. No need to take the slide out. I was very pleased with the company. There was a cut in the leather on one side which was tight against a wall. They credited me with $200 rather than replace the arm.
  • My first reply disappeared....

We replaced our sofa and 2 recliners with custom order Lazy Boy.
We have a cameo 5 wheel, and it all went through the doors. Recliners backs are removable on Lazy Boy.

With the pullout couch ,the bed is very comfy. The recliners also are.
  • In the first drawing it looks like there is two different designs. Is one a sofa and one a loveseat or is it two different concepts?

I am kind of a sawdust maker myself and to me that is excellent design and execution work. I love the soft pine design mockup and then the oak cabinetry work.

If I were you, I would document my drawing and copy write it. Not for money but so that others could follow your design and possibly redo their RVs as well as you did. The whole thing is worthy of Wood Magazine and MotorHome Magazine..

I watched the local RV dealer simply remove the slide, change the furniture and replace the slide. but of course, they had the equipment to lift the slide.
