Replacing sofa?

I had this done on my last coach (and it wasn't in a slide). Replaced the J-sofa, that was trendy at the time with a recliner. Just storage underneath so easy access to the bolts that held down the sofa and easy to put in new bolts to hold down the recliner. You may end up with some inconvenient holes in the floor and I lost a couple of "seat belt" seats. I actually did this mod twice, the first time with a sort of standard RV recliner and the second time with a compact residential model.

If your sofa is in a slide, it's either bolted into or thru the floor and should be easy to remove. They kind of disassemble so should be able to get the old one out the door. As someone mentioned, new recliners tend to come in two pieces (back and base) that snap together. Both pieces should fit thru the door.

This shouldn't be a greatly difficult mod.

Actually, your photos made me realize that if the sofa is in the slide, the chances of a fresh water tank or some such being built-in underneath is probably just about nil.

Try Lambright furniture in the Elkhart area. they make some very nice wall hugger recliners that are very nice. We are having some work done of our MH and when it is ready they will install it and then we will order a new recliner for DW.

Our 2009 Fleetwood Discovery, has two Euro recliners and a sofa bed. My husband moves his out, I use my as a chair for the fold down table that I put my lap top on after we are set up. We need this floor plan because we have a small front opening freezer that we take with us to the mountains.

The back comes off of most recliners and they are easy to get through doors when turn on their side. Worst case for removing a sofa would involve a saws-all but I think a few screws can be removed and make a lot less of a mess. Just make sure the unit has a free standing sofa and go for it.

That was a factory option. The original owner only used the coach for vacations but had to be able to access his full time business so he had the computer desk option, residential refrig option and 220 dryer put in so he could make the most out of his time to and from the rockies. He was from the same town I live in. He really knew what he was doing when he optioned out this dynasty....at least from my point of view. We are going to miss it when it is gone.

Barlow46 - The desk looks great. Was that a factory option or did you find a cabinetmaker to make it? If the latter, he did a great job matching the wood.

Eadeal55 - I have the name of an RV remodeler in the the event I run into something I can't handle in making a swap. If there's nothing but unbolting the sofa from the floor and fastening in a recliner, I might could handle this myself.

Sorry, I should have made clear that we are looking for a used motorhome, not new. My fault.

My question is regarding remodeling a used unit by removing a sofa and putting in recliners or other chairs.
