26 feet is the ideal length to wheel base ratio. I would look for one of these: http://www.lazydaze.com/
Cold weather use and slides don't mix. That is why Lazydaze units are desirable--no slides.
I actually have a lazydaze, I bought specifically because it didn't have a slide. I had a pretty big slide in my previous travel trailer, and it took up a lot of interior space when retracted. Not a huge issue since you have to be parked to use it anyways. However, for a motorhome, which I bought for road trips and short outings, not having the slide taking up space while in motion makes it easier to move around and use the interior space. Got stuck behind a traffic accident last week, (road eating machine fell off the trailer. no one hurt, just blocked the road for a couple of hours and no detour available) kinda weird to open the slide while stuck in traffic.
Mine is a 26' which is a pretty good length. full sized bed in back, split shower toilet, kitchen, 72" jacknife couch on one side and door/small sliding couch on other. big overhead bunk. I can parallel park if I've got enough room (did get a ticket for parking too far from the curb) fits in 2 end to end parking spots in grocery store parking lot without blocking the aisle. Handles pretty good on winding mountain roads, can back into a camping spot without help. Been working on updates to electrics/electronics/items that degrade with time. Adding new features that weren't available at the time of manufacture. Even handles light snow without a problem. Internal heater or electric portable kept it pretty warm inside when we took it through the mountains last christmas. New lazydaze are factory order only, delivered in california. Some can be found used on classified. Not overly impressed with the tech support though. Seemed kinda clueless why I'd want wiring diagrams and paint codes for a 20 yr old rig. Not a lot of high tech options, slow to follow "trends"
good unit anyways.
