be very careful dropping the fuel tank, even old gas is very flammable. if possible get the gas out by removing the rubber fill hose and using something like a outboard motor primer bulb to siphon the gas out, when the tank is out check the sock filter on the end of the suction tube it may be plugged and if there is any doubt about the old gas dispose of it properly and refill with fresh
