A couple of things can be seen in this shot. There is some 1 by 1 frame work on both sides of the refer framing. A better shot of the fan.
There is ome sort of sheat metal all around the parimeter of this opening. There is fiberglass insulation on the sides. Under the sheet metal is around 1/4 inch of Styrofoam, then some thin plywood. There seems to be wood on the sides of this box.
